One of the sharpest fighters of his time in poetry, the popular poet Edvards Treimanis-Zvargulis (1866–1950) at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries is a vivid representative of the epigram genre in the history of Latvian poetry alongside and Rainim. The collection of unpublished poetry "Red Paradise" was written from 1939 to 1944 and is the last known full manuscript of Edvards Treimanis-Zvargulis.
