In 2005 the directorate of V.Vinogradov Institute of the Russian Language of the Russian Academy of Sciences decided to renew publishing of the series “Questions of Speech Culture”, which was very popular in due course. Part 9 of the series is issues in memory of Professor and Doctor of Philology E.N.Shiryaev, who headed the Speech Culture Department. It includes articles by many famous scientists - Corresponding Members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctors and Candidates of Philology, members of academic institutes and university professors. The collection examines relevant questions of the Russian speech culture, active processes in the Russian language at the end of the XIXth - beginning of the XXth centuries, questions of the Russian syntax.
