Talking (writing) about a book covering 175 years of existence of a museum institution of the highest order seems discouraging and at first thought almost impossible. The elements of which it is made, based on a well-founded tradition, quite expectedly, cannot be other than a monumental-sublime, highly aestheticized monument to the Matica Srpska Gallery. Jubilee timeframes, as so many times before, were used by the manager of the Matica Srpska Gallery, Dr. Tijana Palkovljevic Bugarski, as a multiple motive, a creative occasion, in order to collect her research, observations and useful conclusions among the covers. One thing is absolutely certain: on that path of writing pages and editing art and documentary contributions, it was not easy for her to include what within her field of experience is the most significant for the institution she has been leading for twelve years and more.
