The monograph is dedicated to political repressions of the Red Army chief commanding staff in 1937-1938. The research of political repressions in the Special Red Banner Far East Army (front) is of an exceptional interest, as these very troops had to feel all the consequences of the repressions policy when they were at Khasan Lake. The author resorts to information from the sources, which have not been published before, and which help to renew historically impartial course of events, to understand what is hidden behind the repressions statistics, to appreciate the influence of inner political events on defensive capacity of the country’s eastern borders on the eve of World War II.
