The work is devoted to the problems of the political geography of the Northern Asian states, including Russia, China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan, within the territory of the merged historical and geographical term “the Great Steppe”. Special attention is given to the theory and practice of the systemic geographical studies of politics, economy and society development of the Asian Russia, in close connection with the social processes taking place in the territory of neighboring countries in the context of
globalization. For the first time performed geographic periodization of the recent economic history of Russia, which focuses on the territorial state integrity, determined by the ratio to the economic priorities, structural reforms of society, private ownership and rational use of natural resources.
