The first volume of Polar Archive includes unique documents, describing life stories and activities of Arctic travelers and explorers of the early XIXth - the first half of the XXth centuries; new materials and archival documents on Pomors' ship-building, on the history of Novaya Zemlya explorations and development by Pomors and Nenets people, on expansion of the Russian Orthodox religion at the Extreme North of Russia. Particular attention is given also to the history of Solovetsky Special Purpose Camp.
