The book by Valentin Mihaylov, a specialist in humanitarian geography, is a well-balanced combination of a scientific study, complete with the toolkit of selected methodological paradigms from different areas of knowledge, and a fascinating narrative about the anthropogenic elements of the Polish landscape , for the places personally visited by the author and for the "Polish spirit" that fills them. The city, the village, the castle, the farm, the cathedral, the block of flats, the memorial plaque and so on are discussed in the context of the past time they were created, but also in relation to their existence and function today. The dignity of the monograph is also its immanent comparative nature: the comparison with Bulgaria is evident - in the frequent author's author's comments, and implicit - in the selection of the themes and the pictorial material illustrating the theses.
