The past is forgotten, and there is no hope for the future. Dystopia has become a reality. This is the new normal in our apocalyptic politics - but only if we accept it will we become truly helpless. In order to achieve a relevant change, argues political philosopher and activist Srecko Horvat, we must first change our way of thinking. Traveling through time and space, from the partisan liberation movement in occupied Yugoslavia to the realm of contemporary culture, refugee camps and the political borders of 21st century Europe, Horvat shows how the nature of the problems we face today is entirely new.
The author, in his passionate call for a new radical internationalism, points to the necessity of going beyond the currently prevailing frameworks: borders, national identities and profit maximization as the measure of all things. This is the only way we can create new models for life and, together, shape a more open and optimistic future.
