The book is accompanied by the exhibition “Poetics of Borders. Estonian art 1918-2018 In the Moscow State Tretyakov Gallery (22.11.2018-27.01.2019). The exhibition, created in cooperation with the Estonian Art Museum and the National Tretyakov Gallery, presents a hundred years of mosaics of Estonian art based on the collections of two museums. The exhibition is part of an international cultural program dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia.
The focus of the exhibition will be decades after World War II, when the Tretyakov Gallery began with the creation of an art collection in Estonia. For these central works, the regional artistic and historical context is created through the collections of the Art Museum of Estonia. The exhibition can be viewed as a concentrated understanding of the history of art in Estonia, which, in addition to the Soviet period, reveals creative artists important to Estonian modernism in the period before the Second World War and from the beginning of the 21st century.
Artists on display at the exhibition: Edward Viralt, Pete Aren, Eerik Haamer, Arnold Akberg, Alexander Kryms, Felix Randel, Rein Tammik, Elmar Keats, Nikolai Kormashov, Ülo Sooster, Ando Keskkula, Jüri Okas, Lilly-Krusha Pauls, Ligalt rep Piper, Marge Monko, Denes Farkas, Anna Shkodenko, Krista Mölder, Ene-Liis Semper.
