Valentina Lokun was born on August 6, 1946 in the village of Tsepyanets of the Pinsk district of the Pinsk (now Brest) region in a peasant family. In 1966, she graduated from the Pinskaya Correspondence School and entered the Faculty of Philology (Russian Department) of the Brest State Pedagogical Institute named after A. S. Pushkin. In 1984, V. Lokun defended her candidate's thesis on the topic "Stylish uniqueness of modern Belarusian military prose (based on the works of V. Bykov, B. Sachenko, I. Chigrinov, 60-70s)". In 1985-1998. taught at the Brest Pedagogical Institute named after A. S. Pushkin. In 1987-2007. was a researcher at the Institute of Literature named after Yanka Kupala of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, at the same time, until 1998, she worked at the Minsk Pedagogical Institute named after M. Gorky.
Valyantina Lokun's literary and critical articles were included in the collections "To New Heights" (1991) and "Circles of Life, Circles of Literature" (2002). Valyantina Lokun also took part in the creation of the books "History of Belarusian Literature of the 20th Century" (in 4 volumes, 1999-2002), "Belarusian Literature in the Context of Slavic Literatures of the 19th-20th Centuries." (2006).
In 1998, Valyantina Lokun was accepted into the Union of Belarusian Writers, in 2006 she became a member of the Union of Writers of Belarus. Two-time laureate of the award of the magazine "Flame. For active participation in the work of the International Foundation of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk, V. Lokun was awarded the medal of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk in 2006. In 2012, she became a laureate of the Belarusian Women's Union award.
