This catalogue is devoted to pictorial photography, an insufficiently explored phenomenon, which has no common viewpoint in determining its chronological borders. In Russia pictorial photography declared itself distinctly at the beginning of the XXth century. Success of Russian masters had greatly contributed to the triumph of pictorial photography. The artists were united in the understanding of aesthetic system of pictorialism. At the same time they were extremely individual, almost antagonistic in everything related to their own creativity and their own ideas of photography as a unique art.
