This is a compilation of papers from an international scientific conference commemorating the Bulgarian philanthropist brothers Evlogi (1819-1897) and Hristo Georgiev (1824-1872). The 13 papers included in the book give an idea about the wide range of topics discussed during the conference. October 3, 2019 was the 200th birth anniversary of Evlogi Georgiev, the financial donor who made it possible to establish Sofia University, Bulgaria's oldest institution of higher learning. Arguably the richest Bulgarian merchant and banker of the late 19th century, Evlogi was also one of the nation's most distinguished philanthropists of the National Revival Period.
