The monograph is devoted to the problem demanded by the modern state of the historical and literary science: the study of the heritage of N.M. Karamzin (1766-1826) and the compilation of the chronicle of his life and work. The anthropological approach to the biography of the writer, new archive materials, his correspondence make it possible to concretize the moral, philosophical and aesthetic views of Karamzin, to recreate not only the events in his life, but also the features of his personality. For the first time, the full text of Karamzin's letters to his wife in the period of "Petersburg pentecost" - February-March 1816, restored from autographs, is published.
