In the late 1940s, the USSR leadership organized a mass repatriation of Armenians, which fundamentally changed the culture of Soviet Armenia. Tens of thousands of people who, having survived the genocide of 1915, found themselves in different countries, returned to Transcaucasia to build a new life. The program to support the settlers was quickly curtailed, and they had to survive in extremely difficult conditions. And yet, the wave of repatriation gave strength to a society that had suffered greatly due to the war and repressions. People, their respectful attitude to work and education became the main resource for Armenia. The republic's leaders convinced Moscow to focus on the development of a new industry - the production of electronic components, and local scientific centers launched projects for their own computers. This book tells about the computers created in Armenia, their developers, and the cultural and everyday life of Yerevan in the 1950s-1980s.
