"Vana Kannel" is a scientific publication initiated by Jakob Hurd, in which all Estonian songs stored in archives and their ways are published by parishes. The volume of Peetri parish represents the rich and consistent regilaul tradition of the ancient agricultural region of Northern Estonia. The introductory chapters provide an overview of the history of the parish of Peetri, the dialect, the collection of songs, the themes and types of songs, the repertoire of the most important singers. At the end of the publication there are registers, a dictionary of dialects and little-known words, and summaries of the content of the songs in English.
