The monograph examines little-studied issues of land relations in the European North of Russia in the 1917–1920s. The focus is on the problems of development of the peasant economy and its main elements, the organization of labor, the level of employment and agrarian overpopulation, forms of land use and rental relations. The factors that determined the evolution of the peasant economy are analyzed: farming and animal husbandry, fishing activities and peasant waste. The degree of marketability and profitability of the yard, the adaptive capabilities of parcel farming during the Civil War and NEP, the impact of agricultural policy on changing the nature of agricultural production and the processes of self-organization are revealed.
