The idea of this book arose and took shape during the author's conversations with Ukrainian historians and archaeologists who are researching the past of the Northern Black Sea region — from the Copperstone Age to the modern era. Each of the cultures studied by them is unique. After all, for centuries dozens of multi-lingual peoples replaced each other in the Ukrainian steppes - and all of them left a unique mark on these lands, created a unique profile and character of this region.
