The Ukrainian travel writer, orientalist and translator Stepan Levinsky (1897-1946), the son of the famous Ivan Levinsky, was well known in Galicia in the 1920s and 1930s. as the author of talented essays about traveling in the Middle and Far East. Thanks to the reissue in 2018 of the books “From Vesuvius to the Sands of the Sahara” (1926), “From the Japanese House” (1932) and “East and West” (1934), it became a real discovery for many readers.
