Memoirs of a Lithuanian couple: Liudas Vaineikis (1869-1938) and Stanislava Vaineikine (1875-1964) about exile and life in the Turkestan region in 1914-1921. A significant part of the book is a chronicle of the tragic events of that time, the terrible famine that hit the Turkestan region, the customs and traditions of people of different nationalities who surround them during their wanderings: Turkmens, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, Tajiks, Russians. In the narrative, the reality around them is impartially recorded. Thanks to her notes, the reader learns about the economy of the region, the peculiarities of the political structure, about the relationship between the Russian Empire and representatives of different peoples, including the Balts, Germans, Czechs, Austrians, Jews, Poles, who by the will of fate found themselves there. Later, this chronicle was turned into a book in Lithuanian in two parts: “Palanga Memoirs. Notes of a Refugee. The book dedicated to the life of the Vaineikis couple was published only in 2014 in honor of the 130th anniversary of the birth of Lyudas Vaineikis.
