Plescheev Alexander, the author of the book, is a journalist, playwright, theater critic and historian of ballet. He is the author of about 30 plays that were staged in many theaters. In 1919 Plescheev emigrated abroad. The book "Our ballet" is the first experience of writing about the history of ballet in Russia from the XVIIth to the end of the XIXth century.
