The book by Lyubov Reizina, who worked for many years as a history teacher at Minsk Gymnasium No. 42 of Nobel Prize laureate Zh. I. Alferov, was born from the author's professional interest in the past of the Motherland, the desire to protect the historical truth and pass on to the young the great legacy of predecessors, especially those who brought us Victory. Historical memory must be alive, so the book is based on conversations with the heroes of the essays, materials from their diaries and memories. The author makes extensive use of documents from the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, photographs from family albums.
