The common denominator of the studies included in the latest book by Professor Roman Krzywy is old Polish customs. The issues discussed do not create a panoramic approach, but explore selected topics, which the author illuminates, referring primarily to literary sources. The reader will find in the book analyses of works that are evidence of the popularity of educational journeys, will look at ceremonial entries to Vilnius, will come into contact with images of women and the works of female poets, will learn how carnival culture influenced old drama, will also read about literary echoes of the bedchamber and the circulation of obscene poems. Old works used conventions that are already outdated today, also referred to forgotten customs, not to mention the increasing linguistic distance.
