The book presents the continuation of the trilogy, devoted to the history of Russian-German scientific relations of the XVIII century. The first part- “At the origins of democratic traditions in Russian science. Sketches about the history of Russian-German scientific relations”- appeared in 2003. This second part provides a description of how foreigners (Germans) resisted the Russian penetration in science, and how the latter defended its national rights. The author demonstrates vividly the role of both sides in founding native Russian science, as well as in the history of Russian-German scientific relations and forming national self-consciousness of Russian nation.
