This book contains a story about the unknown Oleksandr Dovzhenko (1894–1956). Participant in the fight for independent Ukraine, later a member of the "Bortobists" party, and then a world-renowned diplomat, artist, writer and film director, he found himself under the close supervision of the communist special services for many years. They recorded his every step, his mood, his plans, his activities, and there were many informants in his inner circle.
The author-compiler used unique documents and materials from the form case, as well as some other archival sources. Their analysis makes it possible to see and hear a completely different Oleksandr Dovzhenko.
