This publication is the first collection of source studies devoted to the sacrificial act of Hero of Ukraine Oleksa Hirnyk (1912–1978). It included NKVD/KGB documents from the Sectoral State Archive of the Security Service of Ukraine, as well as photographs, transcripts and other materials related to the perpetuation of O. Hirnyk's memory: a description of the exhibits of the Smoloskyp museum (temporarily relocated from Donetsk) and materials from the personal archive of the honored cultural worker of Ukraine, honorary citizen Kaniv Mykhailo Ishchenko (1933–2021).
