The proposed book deals with Old Believers' faith in Latvia since its appearance there to the present day. It's the first Latvian language monographic publication on Old Believers. First of all, the book gives a general outline of the history of schismatic section of the Russian Orthodox Church. The Church reform initiated by patriarch Nikon in 1653, its background, basic causes and consequences are observed in the monograph. The author tells the story of anti-reform movement and traces the peculiarities of formation, development and activity of Old Believers communities.
