Notes and materials from the diary of Nikita Ilyich Sharypo , one of GI Nevelskoy's associates on the Amur expedition, the commander of the transport "Baikal" have been published for the first time. Serving in the Far Eastern seas since 1845, N.I. Sharypov was appointed commander of the transport "Baikal" in 1854. The ship under his command, thanks to the discoveries of G. I. Nevelskoy, was the first of the sailing ships to pass the Tatar Strait to the Sea of Okhotsk. Sharypov's published notes refer to the period of his command of transport, that time was full of events associated with the Eastern (Crimean) War of 1853-1856 in the Far East.
