The author Lyudmila Yakovleva is a doctor, Candidate of Medicine. She worked all her life as a scientist in one of the leading medical institutions of Leningrad. In 1991 she moved to Helsinki and began the difficult period of adaptation to new conditions. In her book she tells us how hard it was to be unemployed, how she got out of the depression and social isolation and about people whom she met there.
