The monograph presents the forms of representation of the "ethnic" in the Novgorod land of the 15th century, defines the areas of non-Slavic ethnic groups, and analyzes the mechanisms of interethnic interaction. The author focuses on Novgorod census books of the late 15th century, the toponymic and anthroponymic material of which is supplemented by archaeological data, chronicles, acts, and birch bark letters. Based on a set of sources and an interdisciplinary approach, a general view of the ethnic picture that had developed in the Novgorod land by the end of the 15th century is formed.
