This is a book about the ideologue of state independence of Ukraine, the creator of the Ukrainian army and the Ukrainian press, the author of the first in the twentieth century. Constitution of Ukraine, lawyer Mykola Mikhnovsky. The book will be published in the series Outstanding Ukrainians in the Library of the Historical Club Kholodny Yar.
Olena Teliga put Mykola Mikhnovsky on a par with Taras Shevchenko, Olena Pchilka, Ivan Franko and Lesya Ukrainka. Olena Teliga believed that Mikhnovsky had civil courage. And in his conflict with the writer Volodymyr Korolenko, to whom Mikhnovsky did not lend a hand as a traitor to our people, she was completely on the side of Mykola Mikhnovsky. Mikhnovsky, Olena Pchilka, and Lesya Ukrainka are great examples of civil courage, Olena Teliga claimed. - Contemporaries did not tolerate them for what we now arrange their anniversaries.
Mykola Mikhnovsky's book contains 26 texts that belong to his pen. 12 of them are published for the first time. And we have established the authorship of Mikhnovsky 5 texts that were not previously associated with him. We also publish two interviews with Mikhnovsky - in 1912 and 1918. That is, Mikhnovsky's creative legacy, which has so far been measured in about 45 texts, has been increased by 17 texts (by a third).
Mykola Mikhnovsky's book also published 56 memoirs about Mykola Mikhnovsky, 9 of them for the first time, and another 8 memoirs are published for the first time in Independent Ukraine. And the vast majority of other memories are little known even to historians. We also publish 113 newspaper mentions of Mikhnovsky. In fact, all of them are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.
