Ilija Eric wrote down his testimony of the horrors of the Way of the Cross in order to break this part of Croatian history from oblivion. Wanting to find out the truth, Elijah recorded his testimony of suffering and torment, but also of the faith that filled the participants in the Way of the Cross. For a long time this was a "forbidden topic" and Eric himself never had any pretensions to become a writer, but seeing that generations to come knew very little about the events that happened during the difficult times for the Croatian people, he decided to record his memories on paper.
