A gallery of portraits of several New Wave poets, with a self-portrait in the background. The essays collected in this book are devoted to six outstanding New Wave poets: Wit Jaworski, Jerzy Kronhold, Julian Kornhauser, Ryszard Krynicki, Stanislaw Baranczak, and Adam Zagajewski. Aleksander Fiut – literary historian, critic, essayist, retired full professor at the Faculty of Polish Studies at the Jagiellonian University and long-time head of the Department of the History of 20th-Century Polish Literature – writes about their achievements from both a literary scholar's perspective and a personal one; about his cordial relationships with them and, indirectly, about the often turbulent fate of this generation. Co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Cultural Promotion Fund – a state-funded special-purpose fund.
