The author of the book - Metropolitan Nestor, Bishop of Kamchatka served as a missionary in the Kamchatka Peninsula from 1907 to 1917. In 1916 Nestor was elected the First Independent Bishop of Kamchatka and Petropavlovsk, and appeared also as organizer of the First All-Russian Kamchatka Orthodox Confraternity (1910) as well as of Kamchatka Town Church (Harbin 1921). The metropolitan wrote the notes after his discharge from Soviet concentration camps.
