The publication contains Ivan Franko's philosophical poems, which belong to the classics of the world literature.
In the poem "Moses" the author transferred the events of Old Testament history to the Ukrainian soil, reflecting on the future of his people who are thirsty for freedom.
In the center of the the second poem there is the monk cave life of Ivan Vyshenskyi, a Ukrainian polemicist at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries, whom Franko considered the voice of conscience of the contemporary society and valued as a writer and moralist. Poetic works are supplemented with information about the history of their writing and comments by Bohdan Tykholoz.
