The monograph studies the origin and evolution of secular literature in the Ladino language in the 1870-1920s, created by Sephardim, a subgroup of Jews, who lived on the territory of the Ottoman Empire. New literature, presented by fiction, drama and journalism appeared as a result of westernization and radical socio-cultural transformations in the Ottoman Empire, which had an impact on Ottoman Jews.
