The valley of the river Mius in 1941-1942 and 1943 was an area of bloody battles between the Soviet and German armies. Raised on the right bank of the river defensive belt of German army delayed the movement of the Red Army for a long period of time. Due to military failures and big losses the history Mius-front for a long time was suppressed, and his breakthrough victory in the summer of 1943 remained in a "shadow" of the Battle of Kursk.
