The articles of the book deal with the problems related to family or different phases of life. They are focusing on certain groups of the population, which at the end of the 1990s were in the zones of social risk. The authors of the presented collection doubt the thesis that transition to the market economy opens equal opportunities for all social groups. Several studies at the end of the 1990s revealed that a great part of Estonian population was still somewhere in between the winners and losers.
