This publication, based on the diaries and memoirs of the merchants of the second part of the XVIIIth - the first part of the XIXth centuries, reveals the characteristic features of the merchants’ mentality of that time: demolition of a traditional world-view, combination of antiquity and novelty in the conscience and way of life.
