The book is the first dictionary of Russian academic science devoted to life of some scientists under conditions of the Soviet totalitarian system (1917-1991). Based on archival documents, it includes information about 750 oriental scholars. The main purposes of the edition are to pay respect to the killed and suffered Russian scientists, to collect facts that need analysis and generalization, to offer material for creating objective social history of oriental study in the Soviet period, as well as to assist historians of the future understand unbelievable catastrophe of Russia in the XXth century.
