The two volumes of the offered edition encompass data on those residents of Smolensk and the Smolensk Region, who received supreme measure of punishment in years of political repressions (from 1917 to 1953) - death by firing squad. All the data were arranged according to an alphabetical order (first volume - from "A" to "K", the second - from "L" to "Ya") and were included into the volumes only if there was a fact of rehabilitation and corresponding investigative case in the archive of the Smolensk Region Directorate of the FSS RF. The publication doesn't substitute but amplifies the analogous volume of martyrologies under a general title "By Right of Memory" published by A.A.Zabelin in 2001.
