This publication is devoted to Dmitry Zavalishin (1804-1892). He was a round-the-world traveler but became famous for being close to the Decembrists. He did not participate in the Decembrists rebel, but suffered a 20-year exile for his relations with the Decembrists. In this book he shares his life experience, describes his view on events of that time, criticizing both the Decembrists and the autocracy. The memoirs were highly appreciated by Leo Tolstoy.
