The author of the book is Boris Chekhonin, a journalist and author of 16 books and 20 film scripts. The book narrates about his almost 20-year long work as a journalist in exotic countries, his meetings with Stalin, Vyshinski, Khrushchev, Brezhnev and Andropov. The author was the first to follow Zorge in Japan; it is only by chance that he was not kidnapped in Australia; in India he made friends with Indira Gandhi and her son Rajiv.
