The book of memoirs by Mark Talov (1892-1969), a Russian poet, soviet translator and author of memoirs. He was born in Odessa in a joiner’s family. In his young years Talov changed a number of occupations from a newspapers deliverer to proof-reader. His first poetic book was published in 1912. In 1913 the poet was recruited to the army, but then escaped to Paris. In 1915 he went to a monastery and again escaped abroad. After the revolution of 1917 he returned to the Soviet Russia were he continued his poet and translator’s activities.
