The memoirs of Aleksey Flegontovich Gryaznov, the last manager of the Yaroslavl Big Manufactory (YBM) in pre-revolutionary Russia, were written in the 1940s in occupied Poland and have never been published before. They cover the period from the 1860s to the end of the 1920s and depict the vivid figure of a Russian engineer, inventor, organizer of industrial production, a man of a difficult fate, who, thanks to hard work, managed to reach heights in his chosen field of activity.
