Count Mikhail Nikolayevich Muraviov was a Russian imperial statesmаn of the XIXth century, most known for his putting down Polish uprisings, and subsequent cultural and social depolonization of Northwestern Krai (today's Belarus and Lithuania). He should not be confused with his grandson, Mikhail Nikolayevich Muraviov, who served as Russian Foreign Minister between 1897 and 1900.
