This pamphlet, published in 1861, to our knowledge does not exist in any library. The only copy that has survived to this day and on the basis of which this reprint was made is in the private library of Mr. Omer Koc who was kind enough to give us permission for a reprint. This study gives a succinct and realistic description of the critical situation of prostitution in Constantinople at the beginning of the 19th century and the author's suggestions for the preparation of a draft of police and health regulations in order to be able to control this social drama.
