For many years Lev Mekhlis, a commander of the Red Army, had been like Stalin’s shadow. He was so devoted to the leader and to his country that nothing could hold him back from attaining the goal. From the one hand, Mekhlis was accused of the deaths of hundreds of innocent Red Army commanders, part of which he shot to death himself.
