This monograph proposes a systematic analysis of texts that takes into account the diachronic, synchronic and pragmatic features of written scholarly medical text in English. The monograph consists of three parts: the first part is devoted to the problem of the general characteristics of the text, a description of its historical development; the second part describes the structural, content and genre characteristics of an English-language scientific text in the field of medicine of the 17th-21st centuries; the third part reveals the features of a medical text in a pragmatic aspect: discursive, prescriptive, constitutive, declarative, factual, argumentative, as well as different types of citation.
