The figure of the head of Logotsky District Bronislav Kaminsky has become a subject of all kinds of speculations in recent times. In the present research work, basing on numerous sources, the author tries to show the true place and significance of Lokotsky district in the Nazi occupation policy. Much attention is also paid to the question of formation and development of the military forces of Lokotsk autonomy, on basis of which in 1944 the First Russian SS Division was formed.
