It is conceived as a historical novel, which, in the context of complex political, social and cultural relations at the end of the nineteenth century, shows an intimate portrait of a young, determined woman who, in uncertain times, chose an uncertain path - the path that alone can lead to freedom. On the Christmas night of 1874, Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, who will be remembered by the most famous masochist, left his home in Bruck and disappeared into the unknown. The present novel assumes that he did not come back alone, but with a new family member: a tiny red-haired girl that he encountered in Lemberg forests. Mazohistka is the story of Nadezhda Moser-woman, in which this girl grew up, a fictitious person who succeeded in interfering with the historical personality of her era.
